Dr. Samantha Ruiz
Dr. Samantha Ruiz, also known as "Dr. Sam", knew she wanted to be a dentist from an early age.
She grew up in Kenosha and, after graduating high school, attended Marquette University for nearly a decade. She earned her biological sciences degree from Marquette in 2007 and her DDS in 2010.
Dr. Sam is a member of the American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Waukesha County Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, and the Lake Country Spear Study Club. She is also a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Sam has past experience serving on the InSession Planning Committee for the WDA, and currently serves in the ADA's Advisory Circle.
Professionally, Dr. Sam considers patient comfort and satisfaction during dental visits to be her top priority. One of her greatest enjoyments in practicing dentistry is witnessing a person's confidence blossom as they learn to show off a beautiful new smile, sometimes after years of being embarrassed about their teeth. Dr. Sam also places great importance on keeping her dental education up to date by attending continuing education courses.
Dr. Sam and her husband (Dr. Ruiz) live in Oconomowoc, and love everything about Lake Country. In her free time, Dr. Sam enjoys hiking, days out on the lake, traveling, and photography. You can see some of her photos adorning the walls at Lakeland Family Dental!
Dr. Eric Ruiz
Dr. Eric Ruiz ("Dr. Ruiz"), received his BA in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He went on to obtain his DDS from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2010.
Dr. Ruiz is a certified Invisalign provider and a member of the American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Waukesha County Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Lake Country Spear Study Club, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Ruiz is passionate about serving his patients, whether it’s curing a painful toothache or restoring a beautiful smile. He truly enjoys interacting with so many unique people every day. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is always trying to further his knowledge with continuing education.
On a community level, he is a board member of the Oconomowoc Rotary as well as the Lake Area Free Clinic.
Originally from New Windsor, Illinois, Dr. Ruiz moved to Wisconsin to attend dental school, where he met his wife (Dr. Sam). After graduation, they moved to Oconomowoc, and have enjoyed calling it home ever since. Dr. Ruiz is a huge sports fan and enjoys running, biking, and playing guitar in his spare time.
Patient Coordinator and Administrative Assistant
Our patient coordinator and administrative assistant Judy has been in the dental industry for 20 years, and she has spent 10 of those years with us! She loves her job, especially working with our patients and getting to know them on a personal level. For Judy, the best thing about her job is getting to meet so many interesting people!
Judy grew up in Greenfield, WI and went to high school at St. Mary’s Academy. She continued on to Concordia for college, where she completed their medical assistant program.
With her husband. Jeff, she enjoys spending time with her three daughters, Megan, Rachel, and Laura; her son-in-law Tyler; and her soon-to-be son-in-law, Jon. Judy’s greatest joys currently are her little grandchildren, Luella and Harrison. When she isn’t assisting our patients at the office, she likes scrapbooking, card making, walking, and traveling to Northern Wisconsin.
Laurie brings over 30 years of customer service experience to the Lakeland team, with her most recent years spent working in the dental field. She enjoys helping people, whether it is answering their questions or alleviating their concerns about treatment. Providing our patients with exceptional customer service is her number one goal! Laurie is originally from West Allis, but has lived in the Oconomowoc area for almost 2 decades with her husband of 28 years, Joe. During her free time, she enjoys camping, outdoor activities, bowling and spending time with family & friends.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Originally from Prairie du Chien, Peggy has spent 3 decades in the dental field so far, with 19 of those as a registered dental hygienist at our practice.
She earned her dental assisting certificate from Western Technical College and her dental hygiene associate degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Her favorite thing about her job is being able to support her patients through their fears and give them the most comfortable and enjoyable experience possible.
Peggy and her husband, John, have two sons. During her free time, she enjoys cheering her boys on at various sporting events, kayaking, reading, cross-country skiing, painting furniture, and spending time with family and friends. Peggy is actually one of eight children, and she has six sisters and one brother!
Registered Dental Hygienist
Anne graduated from Marquette University in 1991 and has been practicing dental hygiene ever since.
Originally from Watertown, she married a native of Oconomowoc. They currently reside here with their son, Jack. They bought a Victorian house, which they spend a lot of time improving.
The rest of Anne’s free time is spent enjoying the outdoors with her husband, her son, and her Bernese Mountain Dog, Pickles.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Dental Hygienist Kristen has been working in the dental field for 12 years. She started out as a dental assistant before completing her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Waukesha County Technical College in 2010.
Building trusting and friendly relationships with patients is one of the things Kristen enjoys most about being a hygienist. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy smiles in a comfortable environment!
Kristen and her husband Matt live in Oconomowoc. They welcomed their first child, Nash, into the world February 2017. Kristen loves living in the Lake Country area and all it has to offer. In her free time, Kristen enjoys walks around Fowler Lake with her yellow lab Killian and spending time with friends and family.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Born & raised in Freeport, Illinois, Renee came to Milwaukee to study dental hygiene at Marquette University. During her time there she fell in love with Wisconsin, and decided to stay here after she graduated from Marquette in 1993. Renee and her husband have lived in Delafield for the last 15 years. Together they have 2 children, a son who attends UW-Whitewater and a daughter who is a student at Kettle Moraine High School of Health Science. Three small dogs, a turtle, and a beautiful pond of koi round out the rest of the family! In her free time, Renee enjoys all that Lake Country has to offer. She also volunteers for the American Cancer Society, where she drives cancer patients to their appointments. Getting to know patients, their families, and helping them improve their oral health is why Renee loves being a dental hygienist!
Dental assistant Barbara has worked in dentistry for over 35 years! She participates in medical emergency training for assistants in sedation dentistry and has 18 years of surgical assisting in a periodontal practice under her belt.
Working with fun and friendly doctors and team every day makes Barbara's job great!
Barbara grew up in the Bay View area of Milwaukee and graduated from Bay View High School. She’s been married to her husband, David, for 34 years, and they have two grown children, Kyle and Stephanie. She also has three granddaughters, Bailey, Peyton, and Addison, and an 8-year-old black-and-orange cat, Bella.
When she isn’t at the office helping patients, she loves doing needlework, especially complicated patterns and those that incorporate beads, metallic threads, and lots of colors. She also enjoys refinishing antique furniture, going to flea markets, and playing computer games.
A fun fact about Barbara is that she was born in an Army hospital in Berlin, Germany. She also took first place and Best In Show at the State Fair for one of her amazing needlework pieces!
Bonnie has been in the dental field since 1986 and has been with our practice for more than 23 years!
When it comes to her job as a dental assistant, she adores it. One of the best things about her career is spending time with her coworkers, who have become her close friends over the years due to their kindness and compassion, both at work and after work. Bonnie says, "I love my job, and it’s great to wake up and want to go to work, not dread it!"
Bonnie grew up in Oconomowoc and is a graduate of Oconomowoc High School. In 1990, she married her husband, Henry. They have two sons, Jake and Zach. Her oldest son, Jake, graduated from the electrical power distribution program at Moraine Park Technical College in Beaver Dam and is employed as a linesman. Her youngest son, Zach, plans to follow in his brother’s footsteps and is currently enrolled in the same program.
When she’s not helping our patients, Bonnie is working hard at home raising broiler chickens and Angus beef. In her free time, she enjoys watching her sons play sports, reading, hiking, hunting, and walking her chocolate lab, Ellie, and her shorkie, Oliver. Playing Sheepshead and Euchre with her family and friends is a weekly event.
Bonnie has an amazing heart and generous nature. This was fully demonstrated when she was able to help a family member by donating her bone marrow and stem cells!
Lisa is one of our wonderful dental assistants and has been with our practice for 15 years!
She grew up in Massachusetts, where she graduated from Mount Ida College in 1994 with her dental assisting certification. Over her years in dentistry, Lisa has experience assisting not only in general dentistry, but in oral surgery and periodontics as well! Her favorite thing about being a dental assistant is taking care of her patients and coworkers.
Lisa and her husband, Alan, have two children, Alex and Adrianna. When she's away from the office, Lisa enjoys being outside while hiking, camping, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog.
An interesting detail about Lisa is that she is an identical twin!
Dental Assistant & Patient Coordinator
Cindy has been a dental assistant for 17 years, and she loves taking care of & helping people of all ages. It gives her great pleasure to see a patient so pleased with what we are able to do for them, as well as comfort those who are uneasy about it. Cindy has been fortunate enough to work with some very talented dentists who had her wanting to have her own teeth fixed to look that nice! You'll also see her greeting patients at the front desk, where she began working as one of our Patient Coordinators in 2019.
Cindy and her husband Ken have been happily married for 35 years. They have a daughter, Kendra, who graduated from Watertown High School. Kendra is married, works with Dean Clinic as a nurse, and runs a campground on the weekend with her husband! Cindy & Ken now have two golden retrievers, Bailey & Lily, and a cat named Hershey they couldn't help but bring in from the cold.
