Teeth Whitening

If you are like most adults, you look in the mirror one day and discover that your once white smile is not quite as bright as it used to be. This happens much faster if you enjoy your daily triple latte on your way into the office or a glass of red wine with dinner.

Even if you don’t occasionally indulge, some of the healthiest foods we eat can take a toll on the whiteness of your teeth – berries, dark greens, and some of the most flavorful spices all leave color deposits on your teeth that can collect over time and darken your smile.

Stained teeth can make you feel self-conscious about showing off your teeth when you smile. At Lakeland Family Dental, we can help!

Teeth Whitening – an Affordable Cosmetic Solution

One of the most budget-friendly ways to improve the appearance of your smile is with professional teeth whitening.

Getting started with teeth whitening is easy!

  • We recommend a dental cleaning for the best results
  • Our assistant will take impressions of your upper and lower teeth
  • Our office fabricates custom whitening trays
  • Your kit supplies plenty of teeth whitening gel
  • We will take a starting shade to measure your results
  • You will receive instructions for use
  • We will take a follow-up whitening shade and show you the difference!

Be sure to keep your whitening trays – they will last a long time. If you need to touch-up your teeth, you can come by the office, where we offer additional whitening gel to go with your custom trays, so you can enjoy a whiter smile for a lifetime.  Check out the video below for a better visualization of the process.

What about Over-the-Counter Products?

Over-the-counter teeth whitening products can provide some improvement to a stained smile, but they are not as effective without the customized whitening trays we provide. That means that the very front of your teeth may whiten, but the areas between your teeth go unbleached because whitening agents do not come into contact with them.

Another common problem with over-the-counter products is that they lack the potency of professional systems and therefore lack the dramatic results you can get right here.

When Teeth Whitening Works Best

Teeth whitening is safe for most healthy patients. For patients with recession or other conditions that cause sensitivity, we can provide advice and ways to desensitize your teeth, so that you can have a whiter smile comfortably.

For some deep stains, we may recommend additional treatment such as bonding or porcelain veneers to achieve the results you want.

The best way to find out if teeth whitening is right for you is to call our Oconomowoc dental office and set up a consultation with Dr. Eric or Dr. Sam. We are here to help you look and feel your best.
