Lakeland Family Dental
A Great Dentist

Technology

The technologies used to deliver dental care have consistently improved over the years, making diagnosis faster and more accurate and treatments more comfortable with a higher rate of predictability.

Both Dr. Eric Ruiz and Dr. Sam Ruiz keep an eye out for technology that provides evidence-based improvements to the care we provide. We want to give you the best because you deserve it!

These are just a few of the technologies you'll find at Lakeland Family Dental.

Digital 3D Scanning Technology

We are excited and proud to introduce digital 3D scanning technology to Lakeland Family Dental!  The Cerec Omnicam 3D scanner replaces the need to take uncomfortable and messy impressions the "traditional" way for most crowns, bridges, and Invisalign.  Using a special wand camera that takes 18 images every second, the Omnicam generates a 3D model of your teeth and gums in minutes!  Your 3D models are sent electronically to the dental lab, which results in better fit and less adjustments for your dental restoration.  At Lakeland Family Dental, we are committed to providing the best dentistry today's technology has to offer!

Digital Records

Digital records make it easier for us to deliver fast and accurate care. We can access your history with just a click of the mouse so we can easily track any developing conditions or  changes in your health. Additionally, digital x-rays can be stored in your record for fast retrieval, comparison, and sharing with specialists, unlike traditional physical x-rays that deteriorate over time.  By using digital records, we use far less paper, which is much more environmentally friendly!

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are one of the most important diagnostic tools we have as dentists, and digital x-rays allow us to diagnose faster and more accurately while exposing patients to dramatically less radiation.  Did you know that digital x-rays expose patients to 90% less radiation than traditional film x-rays?

Since the x-rays are transmitted electronically, we can view them almost instantly without having to wait for film to develop. We view the images on computer monitors, making it easier to zoom in for a better view and explain any concerns we have to you much more easily. This makes digital x-rays a valuable patient education tool.

Unlike traditional film x-rays, digital x-rays don't require hazardous chemicals to develop, and they are stored electronically in your digital file. This means digital x-rays are less wasteful and a much better choice for the environment!

Today, x-rays are simpler and safer than ever before with the help of digital radiography!

Panoramic X-Rays

Often simple called "pans," this type of x-ray gives us a panoramic view of all the teeth in your mouth as well as supporting structures and other anatomy. We use panoramic x-rays to diagnose all kinds of problems, including cavities, infection, cysts, and tumors.  Panoramic x-rays are particularly helpful with visualizing wisdom teeth and for planning orthodontic treatment.  The best part is, this x-ray takes only seconds to expose, with no uncomfortable films placed in your mouth!  As our panoramic x-rays are also taken digitally, the radiation exposure is dramatically reduced - you actually are exposed to more radiation on an airplane flight than you are with a panoramic x-ray.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, which you might know as "laughing gas," has been around for a long time. But it's a simple, effective, and safe way to help patients relax during dental appointments. In fact, it's so safe that we can even use it for children!

Dental fear and anxiety is a common problem. If you feel anxious about visiting the dentist, don't worry. You are certainly not alone.

Unfortunately, however, dental anxiety often causes people to avoid regular dental visits, opening the door for bigger dental problems requiring more complex treatments. Nitrous oxide helps to dull the sounds and sensations of the dental office so you can feel calm and relaxed. Best of all, unlike other sedation options, the effects of nitrous oxide don't linger. You'll be able to drive yourself home and resume your regular level of activity right away!

Rotary Endodontics

The root canal has an infamously bad reputation, which is actually rather unfair and unfortunate. This valuable procedure helps us save teeth that might otherwise be lost, and thanks to modern rotary endodontic instruments, your root canal is far more comfortable and predictable than root canal treatments of the past!

Rotary endodontics are electronic instruments with flexible tips that allow for greater accuracy, precision, and comfort. Drs. Sam and Eric Ruiz will be able to easily remove the infection from inside your tooth so you can heal and feel like your usual self again.
