Lakeland Family Dental
A Great Dentist

Our Philosophy

The personal attention you'll receive at our office will be like no other you've experienced.

It is not uncommon for patients to tell us that if they had experienced our kind of dental care early in life, they would have had a whole different feeling about going to the dentist.

Here, you are an individual with individual needs. It is our desire to work with you to discover those needs and fulfill them. We listen to your concerns, explain everything, and take the time to answer your questions. We feel an informed patient is able to better choose the care they need.

Our patients know that we are unconditionally committed to providing excellence in all phases of dentistry. You'll be glad to know we provide general dentistry services to help you keep your natural teeth throughout your life. From gentle cleanings to routine fillings to complex esthetic cases, we'll ensure the health of your smile for years to come, making your six-month check-ups as easy as possible.

Relax in our technologically advanced office while we provide you with the finest care available. We have your utmost safety in mind. Our office meets and exceeds all OSHA sterilization standards. We continually research the effectiveness of new methods and materials and bring you only those that give you the best, most gentle, and fastest results. Finally, we work hard to regularly update our equipment and hone our skills through continuing education.

In short, our goals are to build trust and confidence through prevention, education, and patient satisfaction and to help our patients achieve superior dental health.

Community Compassion

Pyramid of Pride Award Recipient

The Pyramid of Pride Awards are awarded to dentists by the Wisconsin Dental Association.  Dentists who receive such an award are those who give exemplary service to their communities or the dental profession.  For his ongoing work with the Lake Area Free Clinic, Dr. Eric Ruiz was nominated for & received a 2018 Pyramid of Pride Award for Community Outreach.

Lake Area Free Clinic Involvement

Dr. Ruiz has been a board member of the Lake Area Free Clinic for several years.  The Lake Area Free Clinic is a medical clinic that has a mission to provide high quality medical care for free to those who are uninsured or unable to pay for medical care.

Dr. Ruiz has been instrumental in helping to plan for the addition of a dental clinic.  The Lake Area Free Clinic Dental Clinic opened in the Fall of 2017, and provides dental care to Waukesha County adults who have limited or no access to traditional dental care due to cost.  Dr. Ruiz volunteers at the Dental Clinic once a month, providing extraction services to patients in need.

Fundraising to support the Lake Area Free Clinic is always ongoing.  Our team members and doctors took up a free will donation, earmarked for the LAFC Dental Clinic. We are proud to support the clinic and the many patients it will serve!

Teresa's Story

On August 14, 2008, Teresa Krier lost her life to pancreatic cancer. She inspired many with her positive attitude and contagious smile while fighting a courageous battle. Her hope and humor gave others strength, even when she had none.

Teresa simply loved life. Her experience as a breast cancer survivor taught her that life is fragile, so she squeezed every moment out of it. Her faith was strong, and at the end, she was at peace and ready to be called home.

Though we miss her deeply, we are moved by the opportunity to help others in the fight against pancreatic cancer through Teresa’s Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer that was established in her memory.

  • Pancreatic cancer has a 96% mortality rate within five years of diagnosis.
  • Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, yet it receives little public attention and few federal dollars for research.

Our desire is to honor Teresa and keep her memory alive by inspiring and educating others, increasing awareness, and working toward finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.

Dementia-Friendly Community

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015, Lakeland Family Dentistry became the first Dementia-Friendly business in Waukesha County. The prevalence of dementia is rapidly expanding, and Dr. Eric Ruiz, Dr. Sam Ruiz, and our staff recognize the need for proper training in order to treat all our patients with the same level of expert care.

We are aware that some of our patients or their family members are personally touched by this life-altering condition. Dr. Eric Ruiz, Dr. Sam Ruiz, and our staff feel that anything we can do to make dental visits and treatment as pleasant and streamlined as possible for all our patients, their caregivers, and family is very important.

A couple of dementia statistics:

  • 1 out of 9 individuals age 65 and over has Alzheimer's disease or related dementia.
  • In 2010, there were 8,544 individuals with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease in Waukesha County.
