Sedation Dentistry

At Lakeland Family Dental, we understand that anxiety and dread about dental procedures can be a major roadblock to having the treatment you need for improving your health.  As such, we’ve partnered with Wisconsin Ambulatory Anesthesia to provide IV sedation services for patients of all ages, right in our office!  Their board certified dentist anesthesiologists handle 100% of the sedation, so that Dr. Sam or Dr. Ruiz can focus 100% on your dental treatment!  Wisconsin Ambulatory Anesthesia’s priority is first and foremost: safety and comfort during the anesthesia process.

What to Expect for a Typical Sedation Case:

  • Schedule a date for the appointment with Lakeland Family Dental in coordination with Wisconsin Ambulatory Anesthesia
  • Expect a call from your dentist anesthesiologist to review your health history and answer any questions you may have prior to the surgery
  • Your dentist anesthesiologist will call again the night before the scheduled appointment to review Pre-Anesthesia instructions and go over the anesthetic plan
  • The day of the appointment, Wisconsin Ambulatory Anesthesia will arrive at Lakeland Family Dental with state of the art monitors, anesthetic, and emergency equipment to prepare the dental operatory for your appointment.  They bring everything needed to run a moderate, deep or general anesthetic for the procedure that day.
  • After a consent for anesthesia is signed, you will have your pre-operative vitals assessed and an IV placed
  • The planned anesthetic begins shortly after and continues for the duration of your appointment
  • Upon completion of your appointment, you are gradually awakened from your anesthetized state while your dentist anesthesiologist monitors your vitals and assures your comfort
  • You are deemed clear to leave the office when you pass a series of post-anesthetic assessments.  Your dentist anesthesiologist is available for questions after hours if you have any concerns post-sedation.
